What is Chroma?
Chroma is a native media player for your own Jellyfin library, built for Apple TV, iPhone and iPad. Connect your server and enjoy the movies and shows you already own. Chroma does not include or supply content.
Do I need a Jellyfin server?
Yes. Chroma connects to your Jellyfin server. Sign in with your server address and account, or use Jellyfin Quick Connect. Your server remains the home of your media and watch progress.
Which files can I play?
Chroma uses VLC for broad container and codec support, including common MKV and MP4 files. It does not request video transcoding. Playback, resolution, HDR and audio capabilities depend on the file, device and playback engine; universal format or Dolby Vision support is not promised.
Can I watch without an internet connection?
You can download media on iPhone and iPad and watch it offline. Local-first library caching also makes browsing feel fast. Streaming still requires access to your server, and restricted accounts may require an online permission check.
Does it support Siri and Picture in Picture?
Apple TV supports the Siri Remote. Siri voice shortcuts and Picture in Picture in the current VLC player are not confirmed for release, so they are not advertised as available features.
